Security on the Internet

PC Protection with Firewalls and Antivirus Programs
These programs prevent dangerous third-party programs (viruses) from being wrongfully installed on your PC via the Internet, which for example, would allow unauthorized persons access to your files. It is important for you to update your antivirus programs at least once a week. Some anti-virus programs are free of charge, while others are not. Some interesting links in this connection:

Working on Somebody Else’s PC
If you occasionally work at somebody else’s PC, never leave it unattended if you are connected to the Internet. Discontinue the connection using the logout button and empty your cache files, where the data you processed is temporarily stored. This rule mainly applies to other people’s PCs, but it is also to be recommended when working at your own computer.
Protection of Your Personal Data (User ID etc.)
All the information which you transmit to Securicard is strictly confidential. You should not store such information on your PC nor should you pass it on to third parties. If such particulars nonetheless somehow end up in the wrong hands, please notify us immediately.
Connected to the Internet
The browser will tell you in two different ways that you are connected under a safe mode: The text line is closed or the URL address starts with https://... Please check this: The safety lock must be closed in online mode.
Access to Web Sites and Reading E-Mails
As in the physical world you should only visit sites which you know or which can be looked upon as being trustworthy. Do not open any e-mails or attachments which you receive from people you do not know.
Right Browser
In order to prevent access to your PC by unauthorized persons, data transmission is protected by a 128-bit security system and the SSL coding system. Only newer versions of browsers have this capability and are thus able to communicate with our computer network. You will therefore require at least Netscape 4.7 or Explorer 5.0.
Fraudulent E-Mails (Phishing)
Scammers use so-called phishing e-mails ("phishing" is a word
made up of "password" and "fishing") to lure users on to forged Internet websites
which look like Securicard’s site and ask you to give details of your access
data. Using the data obtained in this way, scammers then try to access the
person in question’s accounts.
Please beware: Never
give information about your secret access data by e-mail. Securicard will
never request such data from you. You should therefore ignore e-mails asking you
to disclose confidential data – even if the sender seems familiar to you.
